Katy Gilmore will show slides and talk about her project exploring a Northwest year using the Japanese format of 72 micro-seasons rather than just the 'usual' four. Observing her surrounding plants, birds and weather every five days and making a record with image and words on pages of deaccessioned gardening encyclopedias made for a memorable year. The 72 pages are now bound into four accordion-fold books that will be on display at the UW Center for Urban Horticulture’s Elisabeth C. Miller Library from May 1-27, 2026, All are welcome to an opening reception on May 9, 1-3 p.m.
