Calligrapher. Pen maker. Illustrator. Painter. Bookbinder. Visual Artist. Enthusiast. Nancy Anderson has been an avid explorer of new artistic avenues her entire life.
Nancy linked her degree in art and graphic design from Portland State University with a love of lettering and has been a professional calligrapher and art teacher for over fifty years.

Her usual mediums are pencil, charcoal, ink, acrylics, colored pencil, and watercolor. For many years she has presented live inspirational storytelling with chalk artistry and special blacklight effects. She has incorporated her calligraphy into a multitude of artist's books.

Last year, Nancy started collaborating with author Ben Weilert on the The $1300 Alphabet, fulfilling a long held "bucket-list" desire. In this book Nancy is combining her painting and calligraphy to illustrate Ben's text. Nancy will talk to us about her art path that led to this partnership and then delve into the in's and out's of working on a soon-to-be-published book. Here's a sneak peek at two spreads as she nears the finish line.
