In-person exhibit at the Tateuchi East Asia Library in Gowen Hall at University of Washington, Seattle.
Wednesday, September 24, 2025 - Tuesday, March 31, 2026
This exhibit highlights rare works from the Tateuchi East Asia Library (TEAL) Special Collections, showcasing how innovations in papermaking, printing, and design across East Asia transformed the form of books and the cultures they shaped.
On Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025, 3:30-5pm, TEAL librarians who curated this exhibit will lead a hands-on workshop, offering participants a rare, close-up look at manuscripts, woodblock prints, and movable type books, while exploring the techniques and innovations that shaped book culture in China, Japan, and Korea. Please find the teeny tiny Register button on the library webpage HERE.
Gowen Hall is located just north of Suzallo Library on one end of the cherry tree Quad.
Tateuchi East Asia Library hours are generally Monday-Thursday 9am-6pm, Friday 9am-5pm, closed Saturday, Sunday and school holidays. Hours reduced when class is not in session. Confirm hours for a specific date here.
