Remembering Selene Fisher

With great sadness we share that Selene Fisher passed away on May 21, 2026.

Selene was a long-time member of the Book Arts Guild and since 2019 served as BAG President.  It would be difficult to overstate the energy, effort, and dedication which she contributed to the group. She was a “rock” for the rest of the Board: reliably conducting well-run meetings, recruiting presenters, and shouldering much of the administrative load. For years, she enthusiastically organized BAG’s outreach presence at the Seattle Antiquarian Book Fair, and this month, at the Seattle Art Book Fair.

Alongside her involvement with BAG, Selene was an active member of Puget Sound Book Artists and Belltown Book Artists. She served as Board Secretary for the biennial Focus On Book Arts Conference, for which she was also the registrar and scheduled to teach three classes this year. Book arts nurtured Selene’s endless curiosity, creativity, and sense of fun; we are the beneficiaries of her generosity of spirit.

We ask your patience as we regroup, and pick up the many threads that Selene carried for the Book Arts Guild.

Our deepest condolences go to Selene’s husband Jim, her other family members, and community of friends.
