6,854 ARTISTS’ BOOKS & COUNTING! Recent Artist's Book Acquisitions in UW Special Collections

In-person event ONLY in the

Allen Library Basement classroom B69

No advance sign-up needed


Book Arts and Rare Books Curator Sandra Kroupa will bring in carts filled with artists' books that she's been adding to the collection during the pandemic. This is your chance to see & [carefully] handle recent work by a host of book artists from all over the country! Sandra will also reflect on her 55-year career in Special Collections.

Friday and Saturday, May 12 & 13 - Public Memorial Events for Chandler O'Leary

To celebrate Chandler’s extraordinary life, accomplishments, and legacy, the following public events will be held in Tacoma:

May 12, 4-6pm: “Drawn to Tacoma: The illustrative art of Chandler O’Leary” Exhibit opening at Collins Memorial Library at University of Puget Sound

May 13, 1-3pm: A Gathering for Chandler on the Old Town Dock

Thursday, June 8, 7pm - Marbling Across Two Continents

This will be an online ONLY event.

Pietro Accardi will give a colorful talk about his personal history with marbling on two continents (Italy first and then here in the US), including the history of marbling, past projects, and current research for beauty and color harmony in the marbling universe. Pietro will also talk about some of his recent work in restoration of 100-year-old books and dedicated marbling for covers of more modern books.

BYOB Fridays = Build Your Own Book Fridays

This summer on Friday mornings we'll be inviting Book Arts Guild members to short, almost-free bookmaking and paper arts workshops like

Make Your Own TetraHexaFlexaMandalaGrams.


These workshops are intended to be appropriate for adults and youths.
