Chatwin Arts
323 1st Ave S.Seattle, WA
You are invited to an in-person presentation by Santa Barbara-based artist Harry Reese and The Space In Between, a retrospective exhibit at Chatwin Arts. Harry Reese taught print, papermaking, book art, and media ecology classes at the University of California, Santa Barbara from 1978 until his retirement in June 2018. In his partnership with Sandra Liddell Reese, since the mid-1970s, they have published limited edition books and prints for their Turkey Press and Edition Reese imprints. Emphasizing letterpress printing, their projects feature their own handmade paper, typography and design, experimental printmaking, innovative bindings and book structures, and collaborations with artists, poets, and writers. At this event Reese will extensively discuss his artists' book, and the decades of collaborations that they represent.
Thanks to Phil Bevis of Chatwin Arts/Arundel Books for hosting this special public event.
The slides from Harry's presentation can be downloaded from the PDF links below. The slides are all photos, so the file is quite large. You may choose to download the entire set (~50MB) or in three parts (~15MB each).
A recording of Harry's presentation is available here.
Travel logistics:
Rather than trying to park in the Pioneer Square area (which is possible, but requires perseverance and luck), we recommend parking at UW and taking the Link light rail downtown. Google Maps recommends getting off at Pioneer Square station, but it is more direct (and pedestrian friendly) to stay on the train one more stop to the International District and walk straight down Jackson Street to the gallery.
At UW, there are public parking lots north and south of the stadium. The light rail station is between E17 and E20 on the map.
Closest to the train station are the E19-E21 lots. These cost $13.50 to park after 4pm.
On the other side of the sports fields complex is the big general UW lot, E18, which costs $7.85 per day. Space may or may not be available in the other lots shown. There are currently no sports events planned for July 25.
